I felt that the game was very positive today, the work rate was strong and the application was also very good. We are playing a different way this year, in a 4-4-2 formation and I am pleased with the way they have come together in just a month of being together, remembering that this was there first 90 minutes together.
Even though the opposition we were playing were poorer, we must still produce. I thought there was some lovely football played today. Drew is looking fitter and getting sharper with every game. I was also pleased with Nathan at the back and also with Ian with his contribution to the game. As well, I thought Fabio had agood game.
The only thing I was a little dissappointed with was that we didnt give enough pressure and were sloppy in key areas like in the final part of the pitch.
I attended quite a few Hemel games last season and felt that they were always looking to attack but we should be looking to control the game better but this is being worked on. I am happy with the way pre-season in going.
We also have quite a few players to return, Ollie (Burgess) could have played today but I rested him as he has tweaked his hamstring and didn't want to take chances as further injury could cause him to be left out for 6 weeks but he will be playing Tuesday. Edgeworth also didn't play today due to an ankle injury. He also are still waiting on Sippetts and Keano to return from holiday, so it's looking good for the first game of the season.
